Got genetically tested a few months back and found out that I have the BRCA1 gene, history of very early breast cancer in my family, etc. Met with the oncologist and it’s a choice between fighting with my insurance every year to see if they cover a mammogram and ending up with breast cancer in the next decade, or get them chopped off. Insurance likely won’t cover reconstruction afterwards and will fight against the removal too.
