Name suggestions?? Please read body text for more info :)

I’ve had this Bird a little over a week now, and I still haven’t named it… on my last post a few people were upset that I kept calling it “it”… but it’s just because I don’t know the gender and I haven’t come up with a name!!

OK, now here’s the naming criteria… it has to start with a J. Every bird I have ever owned has had a name that started with a J. Also, it can’t be normal…. I LOVE crazy names. And when I say, Crazy, I don’t mean a food or anything even close to typical. I like the kind of name that makes people do a double take when you say it! For example, I have a fish named nipples. I also have a cat named slug bug. One of my childhood dogs was named useless. So whatever you think is too silly, it’s not!!

Unlimited suggestions guys!!! I need something GOOD! remember… something CRAZY or STUPID! nothing is too weird or offensive to me! Have fun.

Is it getting more comfortable with me, or in shock?

I got this bird a week ago, after the tragic loss of my previous tiel. I have had cockatiels my whole life, and most of them have been hand raised. This one was also hand raised, but has been very, very slow to warm up to me. Normally it hisses or gently but firmly bites, and backs away when I offer a hand or millet, but today it is allowing me to pet. However, I know the crest being completely raised is a sign of being alarmed. I don’t think this bird has lowered its crest at all since I brought it home. From the looks of this video, does it seem like I am making any progress? Or is the Bird just too shocked to react?

It doesn’t look like the typical enjoyment I would have received from any of my other birds… so I know it’s not exactly relaxed. Opinions??

Also, unrelated, this bird was born in February. I know it probably hasn’t molted yet… But is it possible to be a male with an all grey face like this? I assume this is a female, but i have no real idea. It has been completely silent since I brought it home other than hissing. Like I said… it’s having trouble adjusting. Thanks to all in advanced

American cockroach infestation. Are they all American? What can I do?

I have been dealing with an American infestation in my house for months. I know it’s not common for them to infest, but I see multiple in a day. Most of them are the giant red ones, but recently I’ve also been noticing some that are solid black and slightly smaller. The orkin guy says that they are the same breed and just change colors based on what they’re eating… but I don’t know whether to believe that. Is this something that happens in American cockroaches?

Also, I know that I likely have a moisture problem, and when I use my dehumidifiers, I see way less of them…. But then the air gets so dry that my family has trouble breathing. They have sprayed poisions and powders but they won’t do anything else. I would like to add that the pest guy told me personally that it is not because of the way that I lived… He said that I am very clean, especially compared to a lot of the people he deals with. There are no signs of them being in my food. He claims it’s solely a moisture thing.

I will say, I almost always find them belly up and dead or nearly dead… partially due to the poisons, and also partially due to my cats. When I do find them alive, they aren’t fast and they aren’t afraid of me. They just stand there and kind of wait for me to step on them. It’s very odd compared to what I know them to do outdoors. Has anyone had a similar experience before? How did you deal with them? They aren’t eating my food so I don’t think gel baits will do much.. I find them on the opposite side of the house from my kitchen. Any at all advice/experiences are appreciated!!
