Can someone explain Ozzie's brilliant line to me?

So lots of people are really impressed with Ozzie's final line, "Jonathan and Joe, you both said so many times, 'get out the middle, get out the middle' and here you are, on either side of the middle."

So I'm ready to accept my own stupidity, but what does this line mean? Like, I understand what the middle is and I understand Ozzy is implying the middle is a good place to be and being outside of the middle is not, but is that the whole meaning of the line? Because, if so, I don't understand why it's such a great line; it just seems like a sort of wordy way to express a simple concept.

EDIT: oh snap so he was referring to the fact Aubrey was physically sitting between Joe and Jonathan at FTC? Makes sense, though in that case it seems weird to me everyone is hailing it as a great line since that's sort of just a cutesy little dad joke-level observation.
