I finally upgraded editions: RIP sourcebook stat enjoyers
Recently upgraded from The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game (Goblin Town Starter Set) era ruleset to the modern edition. Was excited to do so! I like a lot of the rule changes. I used to use my Fallen Realms, or Moria & Angmar supplement books (the thin blue books) alongside that ruleset to play. I always enjoyed flipping through the pages, seeing the art, etc. while looking for stats, even mid-game. So when I upgraded to the new rulebook, I also got the Armies of Lord of the Rings. I flip through it and accept that the book is only characters and profiles of creatures/beings that are seen in the movie. Okay, so yeah for Moria that is only the Balrog, a Moria Captain, and a Moria Warrior.. money grubbing, sure, but they did straight up say that's what the book was.
So i begrudgingly get the Armies of Middle Earth book too. Flip to the Moria section there and it is indeed the additional models (RIP my now legacied Dweller in the Dark and Blackshields), but what really got my goat is that they didn't even re-include the entries for Moria Goblin Captain, Moria Goblin Warrior, or the Balrog! Ofc in the Moria Army list that is in the book, it says i can take those models still though. So i'm expected to haul 3 big books total (including rulebook) to games if i wanted stats and rules on hand in sourcebooks...
Obviously i'm returning everything but the rulebook and just running TTA for stats, other community members i've spoken to have said they do the same. Needed to put this here so that I can sleep well knowing my two cents are out there and maybe next edition can have a single source of truth for each faction/army list. The way they split it this edition is just so bad
