Bat swarms 🦇

I just finished up bats for my Moria army.

What's the right amount of them in the army and what to pair them with? 🙂

Any recommendations?

Cool Orc Army Ideas

Hiii ive been painting alot of different kind of orcs and trolls, mostly going with a more "Wild" or "Savage" look. Now im thinking of playing Mesbg and id like to hear which orc Army rules would be suitable for this kind of more unaligned/wild force.

Maelstrom Deployment Question

Alright, so I've played about three or four maelstrom games, and every single time me and my friend realized thet we did the deployment wrong. I've read the passage explaining maelstrom in the matched play guide like 10 times but I just can't seem to grasp it. It also doesn't help that I've seen multiple youtube channels do it differently as well, either mistakingly or on purpose for balance reasons. Can someone explain to me what the sequence of deployment is?

Lets say, as an example, you have a match between Defenders of the Pelennor with 3 warbands (Aragorn, Theoden and Imrahil), and Legions of Mordor with 3 warbands (Witch King, Gothmog and Amdur). You've just determined which way is north. And now? Do you roll for priority and then roll for ALL of your warbands? Or do you roll for 1 warband, then your opponent, alternating as such? Or do you both roll for 1 warband, then play a turnz and the next turn for another warband, etc.? And if its the case where you and your opponent roll for all warbands in 1 turn, do you then proceed to the shoot phase (since it says 'at the end of your move phase in the matched play guide). Please free me from this confusion 🙏🏻.

Hero Chariots Attacks

So in the Rulebook it's stated that a Hero adds their attack charackteristics to a chariot when riding one. So does that mean Radagast on Chariot has 4 Attacks? (2 From Radagast and 2 from the Chariot) with Radagasts Fight and Strength?

Frodo (Fellowship of The Ring)

A simple hobbit from the Shire… at the very beginning of a journey that will change Middle-earth.

First Frodo finished for this new project dedicated to the different stages of his journey.
I wanted to keep soft and natural tones, capturing the peaceful atmosphere before the darkness ahead.

Battle pics

Just a little Men of the West vs Easterlings game I had with my buddy a little while ago. All models are my own. Gwaihir ended up taking down Amdur in 2 turns and Aragorn actually didn’t perform that well. Got wounded by some 2 handing pikes and then got fed one model per turn with some failed heroic combats. MotW ended up taking it from Gwaihir putting in work.

Magnets or metal under mini's bases?

So I am about to magnetize my first minis ever, but I heard the view that when magnetizing miniatures for Middle-earth it is better to put metal under the minis base, then place it on a magnetic sheet, rather than have the magnet on the mini then place it on a metal sheet. With the thinking being there is no chance of magnets under minis becoming stuck to each other when they are in base contact during tabletop play; which I have seen happen from time to time. So is this worth it and if so, is there any advice for a what small bit of metal (e.g. jump rings?) would fit on our 25mm bases and stay on a magnetic sheet?

Spécial strikes removal

Hello everyone !

What do you think about the suppression of special strikes this édition ?

I personnaly think it is a good thing as a new player, these were really confusing and time consuming, checking every weapon and memorizing it.

In you opinion, what is the most overrated model/army in the game?

There are models everyone swears by. Tales of greatness and power. Armies that should take the table by storm.

But then, in the end, it's much ado about nothing.

What are the models and armies that had a fearsome reputation, but ended being disappointing?

Do note, I'm not talking about bad models. Just models that did not live up to the hype in your experience.

For me, it was Host of the Dragon Emperor and the Emperor himself. They are good at what they do, but there was never a point I felt "worried". Emperor is so big you will always know where he'll be 2 to 3 turns in advance. He's a 200 points buffer that can handle himself confortably enough in combat. It's powerful but, for me, it's not "200 pts pricetag" powerful. I like Rutabi much more.

I finally upgraded editions: RIP sourcebook stat enjoyers

Recently upgraded from The Hobbit Strategy Battle Game (Goblin Town Starter Set) era ruleset to the modern edition. Was excited to do so! I like a lot of the rule changes. I used to use my Fallen Realms, or Moria & Angmar supplement books (the thin blue books) alongside that ruleset to play. I always enjoyed flipping through the pages, seeing the art, etc. while looking for stats, even mid-game. So when I upgraded to the new rulebook, I also got the Armies of Lord of the Rings. I flip through it and accept that the book is only characters and profiles of creatures/beings that are seen in the movie. Okay, so yeah for Moria that is only the Balrog, a Moria Captain, and a Moria Warrior.. money grubbing, sure, but they did straight up say that's what the book was.

So i begrudgingly get the Armies of Middle Earth book too. Flip to the Moria section there and it is indeed the additional models (RIP my now legacied Dweller in the Dark and Blackshields), but what really got my goat is that they didn't even re-include the entries for Moria Goblin Captain, Moria Goblin Warrior, or the Balrog! Ofc in the Moria Army list that is in the book, it says i can take those models still though. So i'm expected to haul 3 big books total (including rulebook) to games if i wanted stats and rules on hand in sourcebooks...

Obviously i'm returning everything but the rulebook and just running TTA for stats, other community members i've spoken to have said they do the same. Needed to put this here so that I can sleep well knowing my two cents are out there and maybe next edition can have a single source of truth for each faction/army list. The way they split it this edition is just so bad

Numbers of Morannon Orcs

Looking for a bit of advice.

Picked up 36 Morannon Orcs on Ebay cheap as 18 spears 18 Sword and board. Realistically how many should I be painting as a good core to all the Mordor lists?
