Sooo, I'm building a small 300-ish point army for Matched Play for the first time. I went with Faramir and some of the Garison of Ithilien models and I see that they all have bows. Now ive seen somewhere that you cant have more than a 3rd of your army be archers because that would make it unbalanced. But since they all have bows, you could say that during the shooting phase they all could shoot if I dont move them more that half their movement... but that seems wrong. So what do I do during the shoot phase? Do I litterally just pick a third of them to shoot? Or is it more complicated than that?

My friend let me borrow his War of the Rohirrim box I played the first scenario but with some archers and I'm so in! The rules are very intuitive, the profiles are easy to read, the books are quite beguinner friendly and I especially like the terrain rules and the mobility of the models during combat.

I used the AOS Spearhead battle map because the WOtR one was too big for my table haha

I found some Moria goblins at my FLGS and have ordered a couple of captains for my first evil 200 pt army. I also have a bunch of gondor warriors and rangers I inherited from a friend and love the models of Faramir and the other heroes that come with him, so im also planning building a Gondor army.

Any tips for running/building these armies? Any strategy tips, painting tips, etc? Would be very apreciated!

Hi! Finally got into MESBG and I unearthed these from my basement, I got them from a friend years ago to use mainly for DnD.

I know they are orcs and Uruk-hai but which exactly? Like if you wanted to buy them, what would you search for?

I know the Uruk-hai on the left is Lurtz, but the other two I cant find what "pack" they're from... one of them kinda looks like Ugluk? Very similar pose. Could it be an old model of him?

One of the orcs (front row, second from the left) kinda looks like Grishnakh? Could this also be an older model of him? And the rest of the orcs, what box are they from?

Any help would be greatly apreciated!

I'm not super happy with what I did with the armour and shield... I painted copper then red contrast paint on top to make a metalic red effect and did the same with the blue parts by underpainting in silver. But to me it just looks like a cheap toy 😅 like it feels too flat? If that makes sense? im really happy with the skin and the wings so it makes me dislike the result of the armour and shield even more. Any tips on how to improve it would be greatly apreciated!

So I guess sculpting is not my forte 😅 this was my 4th attempt at making it look like the shield is bolted to his chest with huge links of chain but... i'm still not happy with it. How can I improve it? Im a pretty ok painter so I think I could save it in the paint job but idk...

For context, this model was gifted to me but it was missing a chest bit so I had to get creative.

I've been curious about Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game but I couldn't settle on a starting army until I found these Moria Goblins for a steal at my FLGS. I've only ever played AOS Spearhead (SBGL and SCE) so I have no idea how to build an army with points, etc. I also already have a Balrog, Shelob and Gollum, which I got just to paint. But now I'm wondering if they work at all with these goblins?

I know that in AOS and 40k you pick a faction and build an army of said faction, but is it the same in Middle-earth? Cuz I only see on the website that they are seperated into "good" and "evil" 🤷‍♂️

I would really apreciate any tips or suggestions on army building based on the models I have, thank you!

But where is that table? Am I being dumb?

This was a surprisingly simple addition. The wings are from the Vargheists. I clipped their hair off because it made it easier to get the wings on and because i thought it would look too busy.

I feel like I'm being really dumb... I'm trying to make a homebrew Background for 5.5e and I don't understand what I'm supposed to write in these require fields for the Equipment portion. I've already picked the items in the lists below this. This is what it's supposed to be:

Choose A or B: (A) Backpack, Iron Pot, Rations, Tinder Box, Cook's Utensils, Healer’s Kit, Traveler’s Clothes, 14 GP; or (B) 50 GP

Can anyone please tell me what I'm supposed to write here? I tried leaving it black but doesn’t work.

This is the latest in a string of test minis for my Balrog. Ignore the purple, it was a random stylistic choice but I dont think I'm gonna paint my Balrog with purples. Decided to use these guys as test out some fire scemes. I technically did each of them with different methods but they all ended up looks very similar. Can you tell a diference? Which one do you like best? Any tips on how to make them look a bit more realistic or bright?

Hey everyone! So I've had to resort to doing this to some of my pots, mainly shades and contrast paints because no matter how much I clean the crevices of the lid and around the pot, it never properly closes and always leaks. Its like the plastic warps once you open it, or something. I travel from time to time with my paints and from time to time they will leak into my paint carrier. And before you say anything about it, I'm not throwing my carrier around 😂

Not-so-hot take: if your product requires me to resort to using masking tape, you're making a bad product.

So what do you guys recomend? Is there a way to work with these pots that I dont know about or should I just invest in dropper bottles? And if so how do I transfer the paints with minimal waste?
