D&D date night on holiday?

Dear fellow nerds,

I'm going on a holiday with my partner this summer. We're both D&D lovers, but only have experience as players (my experience is a little more in comparison to his).

I'd love to surprise him at our holiday with a D&D date night, but since I don't have any DM experience I'm wondering if it's too much to ask of myself...

Do you guys know if there's a one-shot that's do-able for a new DM?

Or should I just find something else to surprise him with?

Thanks in advance for any answers!

P.S. English isn't my native language so excuses for any mistakes!

Absolutely new here but hoping to make some friends here

Hello everyone! I decided to finally watch stranger things because I’m the kind of person that doesn’t watch a show while it’s being hyped. I wait until the hype has died down and then I watch it. And in the beginning, I saw the kids playing this game called dungeons and dragons. I’m from the Caribbean, so I never really heard of it, but it just continue to peak my interest more and more because I remember when I was younger, I actually used to play make-believe games similar to this where I would make up these fantastical stories and enact them on my own, and I decided that I wanted to Google. so for the past couple days, that’s all I’ve been doing, googling everything I can about dungeons and dragons. This game sounds So fantastic that I decided that I wanted to buy the books. Period. I bought the books even though there is content on the internet, I bought the books because I like having physical things. I was talking to my fiancé last night about dungeons and dragons and how interested I am in playing it. And he admitted to me that all during uni that was what he did. I am so excited because the first book came. I hate that Amazon splits up the the orders even though I ordered them at the exact same time, but the first one that came is the dungeon master’s guide and just reading it alone kind of reminds me of when I was a kid. I live in London now and I’m pretty sure that there are many dungeons and dragons communities, but I still wanted to introduce myself here. I am graduating from university after studying software engineering for three years. and I have been rejected from 280 jobs. Dungeons and Dragons might not pay me, but I am hoping that it can distract me for a little bit from all the pain I’m feeling from rejection. I am absolutely new and learning on my own, but I am hoping to maybe sit in on someone’s session, whether it is on discord or on a call or something or even to get tips about new information on this game.

Pink Misprinted Copy of Dungeon of the Mad Mage?

I was out going to gaming stores and found an odd looking copy of Dungeon of the Mad Mage. At first I thought it was a sun bleached copy (and it might be?), but both the cover, back, and some of the artwork in the book had some strange coloration to them. I was wondering if anyone else has gotten D&D 5e books that look like this before?

Map Packs

I saw that there’s an official Map Pack to go with the new 2026 Ravenloft book release. It got me wondering if there were ever any other official Map Pack that accompanied previous books. The only one I could find was for Dungeon of the Mad Mage back in 2019. Were there ever any others that I just can’t find?

Map of the great flying city of Vintaris, a city built entirely on a meteorite fragment floating in the cosmic void. It was very interesting to create this map for Alexander Sword and his interesting role-playing game!🧭🗺️🏰

H-HB pencil, Unipin Pen 0.05-0.1 and Winsor and Newton watercolor on paper then scanned.

Looking for Local or Virtual Group

Last night I finally got to play D&D after years of yearning. I was also the most familiar with the game and was the DM. This felt like an undertaking, but felt so fun and easy with the tools I had. All my players were also brand new to the game. After a fun time of learning, mistakes, and laughter. I’m officially hooked!

I would love to find a local (NE Ohio) or virtual group to play regularly and learn more. I don’t have facebook or instagram so when it comes to finding a group, it’s hindering. I have checked the websites of local gaming centers and stores. None discuss D&D night. How does a new player go about getting more immersed? Or are you looking for players?

TIA for the guidance.

Fodder Inc #377: Long Distance Sending [OC]

Sir James may very well be a capable knight, but he seems to be in an especially precarious predicament. I guess it's a good thing that the Dungeon hasn't implemented some sort of roaming, or long distance plans for Sending Spells, or this would definitely count. Welcome to Fodder Inc, a weekly web comic strip set in the For Profit Dungeon, Azmodendak's Halls of Madness, in a "5e" style world. Each week, we'll show you a little peak inside the halls, and what shenanigans are going on.

Lifting encounters from published adventures I own.

I am running a homebrew campaign set in Midkemia (of the Feist novels.) I own a ton of adventures from DND Beyond, and I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for encounters from the various published adventures that I can throw at my party. It is currently 5 level 4 players, leveling up soon, the big threat is going to be from the demonic realm, and my world is typical medieval epic fantasy. Anything appropriate for level 5-8 would be great. NO dragons though.

For example, I just lifted Cragmaw Castle from Phandalen and ran them through that, changing it so that it fits with my overarching story by adding a bit of a clue. I also tied it in to one of my character's backstory.

Other things I have prepped: First, I have a rift to demon realm that will open up in a crowded market, letting demonic entities out. This will be the third such rift they will have encountered, but this one will be bigger, take more effort to close, have bigger demons, and will be in a populated area so chaos will abound.

I have mapped out the entire Haunted Mansion ride from Disney and that will be a mini-adventure. Can't wait for that one. Totally not related to my story but it should be a ton of fun and they might be awarded the cleansed mansion as a reward.

I have encounter planned that will basically be a siege as dark elves attack an abandoned keep the characters will be in. This will be a major story moment.

They will be travelling through mountains/woods, close to the dwarfs homes.

Any ideas for me? Thanks in advance.
