Experienced players: what is the one thing you wish someone had explained on day one?

I'm trying to understand what actually trips up new D&D players.

For those of you who've played a while: what was the hardest part to get your head around at the start? The rules, the dice, the character sheet, knowing what to say at the table?

And what finally made it click for you?

Edit: this is for a free beginner D&D app I'm building (no ads). Your answers are great, thank you. If you'd like to test the early iOS build, send me a message.

[iOS] Rollwise – a free app that teaches D&D. Need beta testers

Hi! I'm a solo dev and I just opened the beta for Rollwise, an iPhone app that teaches Dungeons & Dragons through short lessons and mini-games. It's free with no ads.

I'm looking for people to try a few lessons and tell me:

  • Is anything too easy or too hard?
  • Does any D&D rule look wrong?
  • Did anything crash or look off?

You don't need to know D&D. Complete beginners are actually the most useful testers.

Thanks so much!

Broken on Switch AGAIN!

God, this is the second time in a row an update has screwed switch players over…The first time we were basically unable to play properly for a week, got no real fix during that time, and received absolutely no vbucks or compensation for it. Now another update comes out and we are right back to having problems again.

I get that Switch probably is not the biggest part of the player base, but some of us have supported this game for years. If an update leaves an entire platform unable to properly access something they paid for, Epic should either fix it immediately or compensate the players affected. Having it happen again right after the last incident makes it even worse.

Hegseth struggling to put up weight at Guantanamo, looking very limp-wristed and SAD! What makes him think this would make him look good, is that a humiliation ritual?

DBD getting this much attention feels like a huge sign for the Scary Movie collab

The biggest surprise to me in the new Scary Movie is how much Dead by Daylight shows up. I went in expecting maybe a tiny nod or something easy to miss, but it feels way more intentional than that.

I am not going to get into specifics because I do not want to spoil anything, but after seeing it, I feel pretty confident they are setting up a collaboration for DBD

I would honestly be shocked if this ends up being nothing.

Building a D&D Learning App

I’m building a beginner friendly D&D learning app and would love some early feedback.

What is something you would want to see in an app like this, or expect it to help you learn?
