How can I get better? Especially in 4/4/4 12 point games
Been playing this game a long time, more than a decade. But now I'm stuck and win rarely. Since PoK we almost always play 4/4/4 12 point games, and the general feel is I lose steam and have a mediocre late game. In classic 10 point games I would win often. So I'd appreciate any advice. btw the table and meta is pretty competitive.
A little bit about my play style. I score well and fast, and I prefer flexible fast factions even though I play anything I feel like. I usually always super optimize my moves for scoring.
I think the main problems could be:
- focusing too much on scoring early and mid game (sacrificing economy and plastic)
- scoring early and getting punched in the face by a coalition early
- picking low to mid-tier factions (not good when others play saar, sol, etc)
- not optimizing enough the faction pick for the slice (this is where I go very basic, e.g. don't pick influence starved faction in low influence slice etc)
- one top player heavily taking advantage of less experienced players
I guess mid to late game economy and plastic, and faction<>slice are the main problems.
What would you focus on to get most out of a game? Any advice about better economics vs scoring? Getting plastic on the table at the right time? Which factions are really S tier in thunders edge so I can pick them?
Edit: I always have a decent game, always at the top, but I'm just not able to finish strong.
