Yearly commitment?

Hi, I signed up for the $9.99/month basic membership. Went in to cancel after ~9 months, and was told that I could cancel on the app, but would have to pay the rest of the year. I asked where it says in the contract that I'm committing to paying a full year, and the staff couldn't point anywhere. In fact, the language on cancelation in the contract, to me, suggests that I can cancel at any point by handing them a request in writing. At this point, it's a matter of saving ~$20, so not the end of the world, but I'm wondering if anyone is aware of how 'real' the yearly commitment is before I bother trying to cancel early. Can I get out of it, or is there some phrasing that makes it yearly?

I'm intrigued by this recent article on the Cornell Botanic Garden's deer management. Interesting local topic, but the reporting feels quite limited. Why did they only talk to two hunters? Why did they not talk to any experts? What do the statistics show? I'm also pretty disappointed by the sensationalist choice of quote for the headline.

Another day, another frustration with the Daily Sun's reporting. Anyone know if there's any better quality information about this?

Anyone know the story behind this little piece of art in a tree on the Engineering Quad? I just noticed it a few days ago, but seems like it has been there for a bit, given how the tree has grown around it. Either way, seems like there's always new things to notice around campus if you just keep your head up. Happy spring!
