Tennis Shoes in the Sauna!!?

So I recently joined Crunch and one of the main reasons I signed up was to use the sauna, as well as workout. Except every single time I've walked by, I see people in there wearing their tennis shoes. Like full on gym sneakers, not sandals or anything. They look like they the just finished their workout and go straight in.

I haven't actually used it yet because of this. Feels pretty unsanitary to me, plus I've read that the heat can break down the glue/rubber in shoes and release some nasty stuff into the air. Not to mention shoes dragging in outdoor dirt and bacteria into a hot, humid space, which seems like a breeding ground for fungal/bacterial stuff like athlete's foot.

I've genuinely never been to a sauna anywhere (spa, hotel, other gyms) where this was allowed. Is this a Crunch thing? Is this normal at other gyms too? Am I overreacting or is this actually gross and unsafe? Curious if anyone's had luck getting their gym to actually enforce a "no shoes in sauna" rule.

Thank you :)

Doom Scrolling

Against my better judgement, I went tot he gym early last night. It does not matter what time I go, there is almost a handful of folks "Doom Scrolling" on their phones while sitting on a machine. You go "hey, can I work in with you?" "Nah man, I have a few more sets." A few more sets? Of what? TikTok videos? It is like gym etiquette 101 goes out the window and you get these entitled fools who wanna dillydally while some of us are trying to get in, work out and get out. I can understand changing a song only our Spotify. These folks are scrolling TikTok, FaceBook, or texting friends for over 20 minutes doing NOTHING on machines. I have asked management to put up signs limiting folks cell phone use as a courtesy to other gym goers, but they just shrug and go, "yeah, we know." Come on folks, you can surf the web at home. Put down the phone and lets hit it!

Best Option for 1-2 months of Crunch

Hi, I’m currently looking to join Crunch while visiting another city for 1 month (might extend by another month).

Does anyone have any tips on how to get the best deal? I’m not looking for full access with classes etc. just the basic works fine.

And how much would it cost TOTAL. I’m seeing so many numbers, it’s a bit confusing. I obviously don’t want the annual membership and from what I’ve read if it’s under 60 days then I should be fine without it?

Would appreciate any help!

How do you meet people your age at Crunch?

Hey Everyone,

I got a question.

So, I'm 21 and have been going to Crunch regularly. I notice a lot of people come with friends or seem to know each other, and it got me wondering how those friendships usually happen.

Do people mostly already know each other before joining, or have you actually made friends at Crunch?

If you've met people through the gym, what worked? Just curious and looking for some advice.

Be Careful

This is honest and accurate and a warning to potential members. I joined their Trinity, FL location. I was not a fan of the vibes at the location and cancelled my membership. No problem they said…$238.00 and 5 months later I finally get the bank withdrawals to stop. You’ve been warned.

A little annoyed..

TLDR: I joined Crunch mainly because it has an indoor basketball court, but it's booked almost every weekday during prime hours by outside leagues, camps, and private reservations. It feels frustrating to pay a higher membership for an amenity that's rarely available, and I'm also wondering if people coming in for these events end up using the rest of the gym for free afterward. Is this normal at other Crunch locations?

So I just joined my local Crunch, and one of the main reasons I picked this location was because it has an indoor basketball court. The problem is that every time I go, the court is occupied by an outside league, a kids' camp, or some other reserved event.

It honestly feels a little misleading because having a basketball court bumps this location into a higher membership tier, so I'm paying more specifically for an amenity that I can rarely use. That seems like a pretty bad deal for members.

I asked one of the employees if the court was always this busy, and he was nice enough to show me the schedule. It's booked every weekday from 6–9 PM, which is basically prime time for anyone with a normal work schedule.

I also talked to another member during one of the rare times the court was actually open, and he told me he and 15 friends pooled their money to reserve it every Friday for the next three months. When I started talking to him, he politely mentioned that if I wanted to run a game of pickup I should do it "soon" because him and his friends had booked the court for private play.

I understand why Crunch does this—it's obviously another source of revenue—but it's frustrating that anyone can pay to reserve the court and effectively block paying gym members from using an amenity that's one of the reasons they joined in the first place.

It also made me wonder what happens after these leagues or reservations end. Do those people just stick around and use the rest of the gym? I mean, why wouldn't they? They already walked in for the event, and I can't imagine anyone is checking whether they leave afterward. If that's the case, it feels even worse knowing members are paying for access while non-members might be getting to use the rest of the facility for free.

Is this normal at other Crunch locations, or is my gym an outlier?

Guests handing over ID (not practical)

A new crunch location opened in my area. I’m my partners guest and the gym staff requested I hand over my ID for the duration of my workout at the front desk (everything you come as a guest). Staff said it’s to keep a head count on everyone who visits the gym just in case something happens. I’m not against that but they should be more practical (like planet fitness) and allow guests to have guest passes on their phones. Crunch please change this policy for guests!!

Does anyone keep a full time locker?

I forgot a shirt in an unlocked locker. 24 hours later it’s still there. Soooo obviously they don’t check them each night. Anyone keep a personal stash at theirs?

Crunch Fitness glitched and double-billed me $132 in two weeks. Front desk refuses to help. Need advice.

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on how to handle a blatant double-charging issue with Crunch Fitness (Millcreek location in Ontario).
My regular monthly base membership is roughly $12/month. This month, I had a payment decline, so I expected a standard $15 late fee alongside my standard dues and my $40 annual club fee.
The problem is that Crunch’s automated system aggressively ran my card twice in two weeks for the exact same package of fees, and both transactions successfully processed and cleared my bank account:
June 15: -$65.07 (Successfully Cleared)
June 29: -$67.79 (Successfully Cleared)
In total, Crunch has taken $132.86 out of my bank account in a single 14-day window.
I went into the club to get it sorted, but the entry-level front desk staff were completely useless. They barely looked at my bank statements, looked at their own screen, and tried to claim that the second charge was just a "manual processing fee" added on top.
Crunch Canada's official policy caps late fees at $15–$25. There is absolutely no policy or world where a standard $12/month membership legitimately accumulates $132.86 in fees over two weeks. Their billing software clearly glitched, failed to recognize the June 15th payment cleared, and forced the entire annual fee + dues package out of my account a second time on the 29th.
The front desk staff claim they can't do anything because their computer shows the fees are "valid line items."
Has anyone dealt with Crunch corporate or an aggressive gym billing glitch like this before? Should I bypass the club entirely and go straight to my bank to file a Visa Debit chargeback for the duplicate June 29th transaction?

How long does it take for a new Crunch to become a hell hole?

a new crunch is opening up near me soon and I was curious how long the typical crunch takes to become a cesspool. I’m already a member of the planet fitness in my area that just opened up in January and so far it’s still nice.

Thoughts on the Crunch Kickoff

TLDR: Just say no and save an hour of your time.

The kickoff session was honestly a complete waste of time. It was sold to me as a body scan assessment with some feedback on the results. I figured there would be a little bit of a personal training sales pitch mixed in, but in reality, the majority of the session was exactly that, just a sales pitch.

I recently joined Crunch with the Peak Results membership, and I'm already pretty active and knowledgeable when it comes to working out and training. The main reason I agreed to do the kickoff session was because the person who sold me the membership mentioned it included a body scan that measures things like BMI, body fat percentage, and other metrics. For an extra $10, I thought why not? I've always wanted to get it done but I was told I'd have to go to like a clinic of something. They told me they had a means to do it onsite so I figured f-it, 2 birds with 1 stone.

The session basically broke down like this:

  • About 25 minutes of sales pitches and being told how this training program could completely change my life.
  • Around 10 minutes for the body scan, which immediately lost credibility with me when I saw the height measurement. I know how tall I am, and the scan had me listed 4.5 inches shorter. At that point, I was pretty much checked out and assumed the rest of the data was probably questionable too. We only spent a couple of minutes reviewing the results anyway.
  • Then came the workout, which was fine, but nothing particularly interesting or eye-opening. I already knew personal training wasn't what I was looking for, so it didn't do much for me.

Overall, if you're doing it specifically for the body scan, I wouldn't get your hopes up. If you're genuinely interested in personal training, you might get more value out of it, but for me it felt like a long sales presentation with a quick body scan and workout tacked on at the end.

Crunch Fitness denies classes booking/walk-in

Wellhub says I can go for gym+ classes at Crunch in my neighbor location. However, CRunch says I can’t book classes / or walk in for that matter - only Crunch members gets to sign up for the classes.im paying 100/mo fo Wellhub premium membership and I can’t access a basic gym in my neighborhood?

Wellhub has been a constant disappointment. almost no gym allows you to book class, none allows you be out on waitlist for class.

What’s it like working at the front desk?

Hi, was wondering for those of you who are working as Member Service Reps (front desk), what are your feelings about the job? Easy, hard? What does the schedules / typical hours and shifts look like?

I am looking to apply to my local crunch as a part time job for school just 1-2 days a week

Sauna etiquette?

I’d like to use the (men’s) sauna at my local Crunch but I’ve never used a gym sauna before and I’m not sure what to expect. What do guys typically wear? etc. Thanks for your help!
