Charged for double the sessions
Context: I signed up for what I thought was a once-a-week training session back in March. I delayed the start day by a couple weeks as I was preparing for a half-marathon and didn't want to start weight training till after. After my Half-marathon I had partially forgotten when my start date was and after some time Crunch called and asked if I wanted to schedule a session and it was at this moment, I found out the trainer that had recruited me had quit. No biggie I just got a new one.
From March till August, we did one 30-minute session a week.
About 3 weeks ago my trainer stopped scheduling my sessions and went radio silent. I am then contacted by a training manager again asking if I want to "continue my training". I say no as I am annoyed and ask to cancel. Of course, I have to come in person to cancel and the first time I try to cancel nobody there is able to help me. I come again later in the week and someone is able to help me. They tell me I still have some sessions left on my account. This makes sense since I haven't received any training for almost 3 weeks. He tells me I have 25 TRAINING SESSIONS LEFT. I am completely confused and ask how this is possible. Turns out I was getting charged for two training sessions a week since March not one. My trainer NEVER mentioned this, and I don't remember signing up for twice a week. I asked multiple times if I could get refund, but it was a firm no. The cherry on top is I am getting charged again next week because of some10 day cancellation window policy. So I now have 29 training sessions that i have little to no interest in using.
All this to say does anyone have any legal or financial advice for trying to get a refund?
Small claims court? Charge back?
Or do I just accept my fate and learn from an expensive lesson?
