My medical school practical exams are PHYSICALLY impossible.
Hey guys, as the title reads not only are they impossible, but they are purposefully made this way so students have to pay to pass the exams (the anatomy section specifically).
Had my anatomy practical exam on Monday, I knew every single topic and studied my ass off especially for pictures. Our exam is split into 2 parts, first an MCQ of anatomical pictures with arrows pointing at 5-8 numbered structures and 5 options which contain 3 numbered structures each that need to align to the arrow they point at. Confusing, but bare with me.
We are given 25 seconds to do this. 25 seconds to read all 15 options and look at each individual structure. I knew all of the pictures off by heart, and I still struggled immensely. Thankfully I passed, but barely. I just hit the threshold to bring me to the second part. The second part consists of 100 topics and you pick a ticket and get 2 topics you need to write on and the examiner failed me over something they claimed was wrong. I googled it and it was correct.
I have no idea how I’m supposed to proceed nor manage in the retake. My brain physically hurts and I’m shaking when the pictures are displayed for 25 seconds and then pass. Last semester we had 45 seconds, which still wasn’t enough but better.
Edit: thank you for all of your comments and support. I should clarify a few things but honestly I wasn’t expecting my post to get traction. 1) Yes I am from the EU, but I’m not going to specify which country cause it will be super obvious which university it is and lowkey I don’t like putting my information on the internet. 2) The “pay to pass” part I mentioned essentially means that there is a specific number of people who need to pass or fail each semester. The more people that pay, means more individuals will fail. The harder the exams are, the more people will be inclined to pay to pass.
