I genuinely don’t understand how this decision was made.
For Pokémon GO’s 10th anniversary, instead of celebrating with the entire community, only around 2,000 invited content creator at the NYC event received:
A Master Ball
A guaranteed 100% IV (Hundo) Mewtwo
A chance for it to be Shiny
An exclusive NYC background
This isn’t just a cosmetic reward. It’s one of the rarest combinations ever released.
To make things worse, these exclusive Mewtwo are already being listed on eBay for $3,000–$4,000.
A milestone like the 10th anniversary should have been something every player could participate in—not an exclusive giveaway for influencers.
As a F2P player, I’d strongly encourage the Pokémon GO team (Scopely) to give every player a limited-time opportunity—maybe one week—to obtain the exact same encounter: in field research

That wouldn’t take anything away from the creators. They still got to experience it first and attend an exclusive event. But it would let the entire community celebrate the game’s biggest milestone together.

Were the background only for the 2 unity raids that creators were invited to or all the mega mewtwo raids post that also had a chance for the background?
