Picky poodle puppy
My husband got me a mini poodle for Christmas, he is such a funny little guy, so smart, and so much energy. He refuses to eat anything but treats. When we brought him home he had Giardia which we didn’t know about for about a week after we had him, then he was okay for a few weeks and got kennel cough, and then Giardia again. We were feeding him blue buffalo and he seemed to like it, but wasn’t overly excited about it. He was eating three meals a day, and then he started only being interested in dinner or eating late.
We have tried everything, a bland diet (he doesn’t like rice), baby foods, adult and puppy stew toppers, bacon grease, broths. We have tried just about everything and he just doesn’t seem to care to eat.
For a while he would get really bad acid reflux when he didn’t eat at night and we would give him a small piece of chicken before bed, but now he doesn’t really get it anymore so we stopped the late night snack. We did take him to the vet and had blood testing done and he’s fine! Nothing abnormal, his weight gain is normal, and our vet just said it’s time for tough love. We were advised by the vet and his breeder on “free feeding” because of the potty training but since he’s potty trained now and he sleeps through the night we don’t have to worry as much I guess.
So my question is did/does your poodle have food pickiness? Was there anything that helped?
We feed him hills science now, it was the only thing he would sometimes eat when he had Giardia. I started transitioning him to Royal Canin mini poodle puppy to try, but he just is not interested in food.
