DJI Mic Mini 2 — "made for iPhone", or good for Android too?

Just got the DJI Mic Mini 2 (€60 from Amazon) and wanted to share some quick impressions since it's a pretty new mic.

The box says "made for iPhone" — but that's not the full story. I'm an Android user (Pixel 9A) and it worked completely plug and play over USB-C, no app needed. My phone immediately recognized it as a wireless USB audio device. So if you've been hesitating because of that label, don't.

A few other observations:

  • The mic itself is a true mini. At 11g it's genuinely weightless on your shirt.
  • Two noise cancellation levels instead of one — must be a noticeable upgrade vs. the first Mini, though this is my first DJI mic so I can't compare directly.
  • Vocal tone presets (Normal, Bright, Rich) are new and easy to access.
  • Magnetic front covers are a nice touch — swap them out if you don't want it visible on camera.
  • Connectivity: works via transmitter or Bluetooth. The transmitter + USB-C combo feels more reliable — worth noting there's no onboard recording, so if the connection drops you lose audio. During my Bluetooth test it did cut out, probably due to other devices nearby, so I'll stick to the transmitter.
  • Feels like good value. My desk mic (Rode NT-USB Mini) obviously sounds better, but for a wireless clip-on with this many accessories in the box — magnet mount, clip, extra cover, charging puck — €60 seems fair.

Shot a short unboxing if you want to check out the full kit of accessories included in the box: https://youtu.be/7Rn4Nn7WBco
