Drone recommendations
Hi, I’m looking to buy a drone as a gift for someone and could use some advice. DJI seems to be a popular brand, but I’m not too familiar with the different models, so I’d appreciate any recommendations.
My budget is around £500. It would mainly be used for taking photos and videos on holidays / events. The person I’m buying it for is a complete beginner, so something easy to fly with decent camera quality would be ideal.

I built a portfolio website where you fly a drone around a 3D island
Saw bruno-simon.com years ago and it lived rent-free in my head. Finally built my own take — much simpler, but I wanted to ship something rather than keep it a "someday" project.
Instead of scrolling, you pilot a drone (modeled after my DJI Mini 4 Pro) around a low-poly island. Projects, work experience, and blog posts are billboards scattered across the terrain.
Stack: Three.js + React, no game engine. The hardest part by far was the drone physics — making it feel floaty but controllable took longer than the entire island.
There's a hidden Ring Challenge — 15 rings against the clock. Hint: past the first billboard, take a right. Drop your time if you find it.

[🇯🇵] Newbie with questions about new model drones and travel to US
I’m a US citizen living in Japan, wanting to get a beginner drone for general photo/video use. Right now I’m leaning toward a DJI Lido X1. I travel back to the US a few times a year and would like the option of bringing the drone along. The several articles I’ve read about the “drone ban” address the stoppage of importation and requirement for the FCC’s approval to sell these in the US but don’t address the idea of traveling to the country with one. I would fully plan to bring it home with me.
Without being on the FCC’s good list, could it be seized at customs on entry? Would it even be legal to operate in the US? Is it still too early to tell what the real deal is? Am I just better off getting a Mini Pro 3/4 and not risking it? Thank you in advance!

Dji mini 3 flew away
I bought it a couple of years ago and sparingly used it while traveling. Very few hours of flight time.
Today I launched it in Ankara turkey from a hilltop and the drone which I raised to a little height above me started drifting away and I tried to bring it back. But it flew away and was lost with videos.
I gave up the search.
I am not a risk taker. And flied responsibly. This was a weird experience.
Not sure if anyone faced this issue and what I should do

Mini 3 Pro. Quick question...
I want to get some shots of the local fireworks in my neighborhood on my Mini Pro 3. I plan to fly the drone straight up and then just rotate slowly for a few minutes. Any way to automate the rotating so I don't have to hold the control stick?

Free pano curvature issue with Air3s
Anyone else having this issue with their Air3s? This is a free pano with 4 shots, anytime I use "Free Pano", I'm getting serious spherical curvature issues. I've calibrated the gimble but have not solved this. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

How do I connect the DJI Mic 2 to my phone using the Mimo app?
I want to record audio directly on the Mic 2 itself, but I'd like to adjust the gain first. I connected the Mic 2 via Bluetooth to my phone, but the app says "no devices found." Is this accessory (the receiver) actually required? If I do need this accessory, will the audio still be recorded on the Mic 2 itself, or will it necessarily be recorded on the phone instead?

USB mode not changing
Even after connecting the same cable provided by them, the usb mode is not changing, I want to change it to webcam, but it's not showing any prompt to change while connecting the wire.
Tried connecting to my phone as well to check for file transfer, still no success.

Sickeningly irresponsible purchase
I originally bought an Osmo 5 to record some musky fishing from my kayak.
To set the scene: I had just worked an all-nighter, plus the next day until about 3 PM. I was completely exhausted but ready to hit the water. I offered to take my mom fishing with me (secretly hoping she’d say no because I was feeling lazy and didn't want to load her kayak). Naturally, she says yes.
I drive over to where her kayak is stored. While waiting for her to arrive, I take the camera out of the car, just trying to be prepped and ready to launch the kayaks immediately.
Where do I set it down?
ON THE ROOF OF MY CAR.
I loaded up her kayak, hopped right into the driver's seat, and zoomed off to our fishing spot 12 miles away. We get there, I unload ALL my gear to get set up...
No camera. 🤔
I drove back and spent until midnight searching the roads for it. I went back out at 9 AM this morning and searched until about an hour ago—spending 90% of that time scouring the first 1,000 feet of road from where I pulled out. Nothing.
So, I did what any rational person would do. I rage quit the search in 90 degree heat and just bought an Osmo 6.
TL;DR: Bought an Osmo 5 for kayak fishing. Left it on the roof of my car while loading the kayaks and drove 12 miles away. Spent searching until midnight and again all morning, couldn't find it, and rage-bought an Osmo 6.
