Doctor's Note
hey guys, so im in a bit of a situation.
2 days ago, i felt physically unwell while at work (i was doing DUG orders) beginning to get symptoms like shivering, cold sweat, and mucus buildup. i suspected that i may be coming down with a cold, so i told my manager that i had to leave early because i was feeling unwell and all that he said was "Bye👋". so i left work that day, came home took some meds and rested. the day after that was my actual day off, so i didnt bother to call or anything. fast forward to now, the day after my day off, i am scheduled 10-7pm. i called at 8, saying i still wont be able to make it today because i still feel unwell and wont be able to perform my job safely and efficiently. he replied with "im gonna need a doctors note, as it has been multiple days." i panicked and said "ill try" and we hung up. now i dont have health insurance as my parents kicked me off of it 2 years ago when i was 20, and i still dont have insurance to this day. i really dont feel like paying $150 out of pocket for a doctors note about a cold. will i get fired for not bringing a doctors note? i am a multi purpose clerk who does both dug/daystock and produce. produce is understaffed as 1 is on vacation, 2 are in line for vacation, and the produce supervisor is about to go in for surgery, and one person is only scheduled twice a week. i know the understaffing might be in my favor but i still want to know what everyone thinks. also, this makes the situation worse but i am still on probation, its been a month since i got hired, and no i havent called union yet to join that, and i was sent home once due to food poisoning 2 weeks before all of this. seems like i am an extremely unlucky person.
TLDR; i left work early two days ago, yesterday was my day off and today i called out sick and my store manager is asking for a doctors note. will i get fired for not bringing one if i am uninsured and cannot afford to pay out of pocket?
