Body cams
Is there a policy on us wearing body cams at work? (Socal) Companies like Walmart are already allowing their employees in select stores.

Very likely not a coincidence. They just stopped posting AI summaries and don’t put “/g” after every sentence for some reason.
It's been one month since I've had an offer extended to me for an online shopper position. Over the passed four weeks I've been trying to get through the onboarding process on oraclecloud but nothing seems to work. I've spoken to the hiring manager once a week now and we keep trying to refresh with new emails to let me add info to the tab where the job I'm being offered is but nothing works. The hiring manager has also spoken to tech support but still nothing seems to be helping me. Is this the only way to get me into the system? Is there no way for me to put into the system by there hand at their store with their computers? I've tried to finsih onboarding on my phone, tablet, and laptop and none of them will let me add the additional info they need to hire me. If it helps I was a previous employee with safeway and left in february after being offered a full time job but it fell through because it was intermittent and I was let go.
Working over nine years at this company it never ceases to amaze me how incessantly assinine this company is. One great recent example is removing the handles from the paper bags. Till this day I hear customers showing their contempt to this idiotic change.
One thing I REALLY hate about management is how they fail to see the forest for the trees. They also fail to analyze and assess situations and circumstances intelligently, miserably failing to see various possible nuances and complexities in one situation after another.
This is in relation and response to some of the trending issues with the company right now, not that it's new, but it's getting more prevalent, more obvious, more extreme. And it's wrong.
I recently left the company and had been a department manager. I did my best to do right by my team members, I knew all of their availabilities, I knew some of the struggles they faced that they were comfortable sharing with me, and I advocated for them to the SD, and I kicked ass doing it, but it cost me a lot. I kept asking for more people with availabilities that actually matched the department and he kept saying they were in training or that more people were being crosstrained, or other bullshit, but they weren't. I never got anymore people unless someone quit. I had to step in to cover the department because my team members either couldn't, or didn't want to do so themselves, so my team members worked reasonable hours, but my hours kept going up. Every time I went to the SD and was like, dude, I can't keep doing these hours, they need to go down, we need to find a more sustainable solution, my hours went up instead. I started working 50, 60, or even 70 hour weeks (which was over half the allocated amount of hours for my department btw) for months and it severely affected my mental heath. I had two breakdowns on the clock the month before I left, and experienced a mental heath relapse on my depression and ptsd. I needed to be able to call out, but I didn't/couldn't because I knew no one would cover the shift. That is a problem. That is an issue. That shouldn't be happening to anyone because it's not right.
So, if you feel like that, if you're being taken advantage like that, look at my story and prioritize your health and wellbeing because they won't. They benefit from you not doing so. They haven't earned your loyalty. They are not your friend. They are your boss and you need to keep their motivation in mind when you interact with them because they CAN and DO attempt to manipulate you. This is, of course, in relation to those who have proven to not care through their actions, they're are probably some who have rightfully earned the loyalty of their employees, but they are few and far between because the system doesn't prioritize that mentality, because the system doesn't prioritize the employees.
Do not hesitate to set boundaries with them on when and how and why you work overtime. They are not entitled to your time and if the store is suffering from your refusal, then it's the SD's fault for not having enough employees trained to cover shifts. It is not your responsibility to work anything other than what you are scheduled and they cannot force you to do overtime, you are able to volunteer for more hours, but they cannot force you. Any illusion of them doing so is only an attempt at manipulating you. Your availability is not a suggestion, you saying no is not a suggestion, your time is not a resource they can infringe on.
You have rights and you should know and advocate for maintaining them. If you're union, do not hesitate to contact your rep even if they do jack all, enough voices can break down even the strongest of walls. It is long since time this treatment stopped and had actual consequences for the people doing this to you, but it won't happen without your action, you have to be the one to advocate for you because no one else will do it for you.
We are NOT machines, we are NOT robots, we are people with thoughts and friends and family and hopes and dreams and goals and hobbies and the want to do literally anything else other than work. Ironically, to quote my last SD, "We work to live, we do not live to work" and the company has to start, not only understanding that, but putting it into practice.
I no longer work here. I left and work for a boss who actually cares, even though she can be a bit of a mother hen sometimes. I do not care about this company anymore, they have long since lost my loyalty. But if this can help someone whose experiencing what I did, or if I can prevent it, that is what I care about.
You deserve better.
I work at a High theft store. I’m the Dairy Lead. Every morning when I come in I find empty boxes or open boxes where people steal the product and leave the case. Usually it’s medicine but I’ve found everything from ice cream to honey buns. They tell us not to stop shoplifters and if we do we can get fired if there’s an altercation. Personally, I don’t get paid enough to care. The other day I had a talk with My SD and he told me that corporate thinks most of the theft is internal and done by employees. It’s a smack in the face to the honest hardworking employees who show up everyday to say that. While I don’t disagree that they’re probably is employee theft, at my store 80% of the shoppers are low income, black or brown, and come in wreaking like weed. There are homeless people who sleep in the side of the building. For a company so worried about profits, maybe they should deal with the amount of money that walks out the door every damn day. I guess that would just make too much sense though.
I went to Safeway today and I didn't like the Safeway employees demeanor.
I'm not saying roll out the red carpet and throw up rose petals but a good morning can I help you? A smile.
I felt like I was being watched. I'm at the self checkout I have two big cases of water. I'm trying to leave a review on YELPS.
Like we got to do better that's why I like doing order pickup I really like to have less contact with human beings as much as possible.
If a coupon didnt load on 1 item, does the system really not allow a simple return of that item and the same item with coupon, without doing the whole purchase over again??? I work in retail and ours will let us do just one item and fix it.
So I got this coupon: $2 off Any Frozen Grocery Purchase when you spend $10 or more.
In the details it says: Save $2 when you spend $10+ on qualifying purchases. Is it only frozen foods that count as qualifying or will chips count as reaching this $10 benchmark.
And it says: $10 minimum purchase calculated after deduction of all promotions, offer discounts, and savings. Does that include this coupon itself?
I’m planning to get 2 Marie Callender’s items for $6.98 and some chips for $3.98, for a total of $10.96. If the coupon were to be applied I’d be actually spending $8.96 (not the $10 minimum). Will this work you think or do I need to add another $1.04 of something, or get more frozen stuff?
Should I have just left $5 on the belt for the bag of bread in my hand and walked out?
My grandma recently passed away a couple days ago, the day of I left early and I went back to work the next days like usual, just threw myself into work to get my mind to think of something else, her funeral is this Friday and I know it’s very short notice but I just found out, so I let someone from management know and was told very likely no I wouldn’t be able to have it off as it’s Memorial Day weekend and it’s a holiday, I don’t know what to do. I work as a checker/cc I have never called off, never been late, help out whenever and in whatever I can, I stay late and come in early whenever I can to help out, and they’re telling me No. I don’t plan to miss the funeral, that’s out of the question for me, and have yet to speak to the SD but will I get fired if they tell me no I can’t miss that day and don’t show up.
Currently working 8 days before a day off and I’m mentally and physically exhausted.
My Daily Habits goals is stuck and won't complete. It's been stuck at "Ending today" for a while.
Anyone else run into this issue? Know how to resolve so I can continue earning habit points?
I just moved to a new store as assistant deli manager and I was opening one day when I saw some mold around a temp gauge, and when I opened up the cooling elements (fan and filter and refrigeration unit area) I found mountains of mold. Probably been growing for years. I took it to my manager and was told just to “clean it” and wouldn’t let me distress any of the open food that was in the case. Ended up cleaning mold for 6 hours straight. Anybody have any experience like this? Hopefully not every deli case is like this..
