Rough night with customers

So i closed in self checkout tonight and let me say safeeay decided to give me it's best in customers tonight. First I had this guy freaking out at me because he couldn't buy beer with his EBT card. So I suspend his order because he was using cash and scanned his items at the card only machine. Then he starts being rude because the beer was not the correct price. Instead of telling me the correct price he goes over to the beer aisle and rips on of the electronic price tags off the wall and brings it to me. Finally send him on his way after he was extremely rude to me. After that "wonderful" customer another guy goes up to a self checkout machine with 2 boxes of individual cracker packs. He says they are a dollar each and we're on the discount rack in the back. So I scanned the 30 individual cracker packs that I guess he couldn't scan himself and applied the discount and then he decided he didn't want them. I swear some customers make me want to rip my hair out.

TLDR night of crazy customers

Store loss power today

So our store loss power today. At first it was chaos as we had customers still trying to shop and arguing at us checkers and we're explaining how our registers won't work. Then we run around covering all the open refrigerator areas (deli, produce, dairy) with sheets of plastic. Then it was chill. All us non manager folks got to chill out and hang out and just talk about stuff. It was kinda nice spending time together without the customers and it created a different vibe in the store. Then the power came back on about an hour later. Then we had to do all the gobacks and dig out the non refrigerated items out of the freezer that customers decided to shove in there when the power went out.

Courtesy clerk decides to use my register

So I had a customer wanting cigarettes. At this time there was nobody in customer service and the pic was on lunch typically us cashiers will leave or registers to grab the customer cigarettes as it takes less than a minute to grab them and bring them to the customer. We usually leave or registers unlocked and I did this time while grabbing them knowing it was only the courtesy clerk there. I should have locked my register but I was away for less than a minute. I grab them and as I'm back to my register my courtesy clerk is saying how he voided something and I look and I see a few items that I did not ring up and a void. I finish taking care of the customer and then turn to the cc and ask if they were using my register and they say yes. I firmly tell them that they are not allowed to use the register and they mumble something and walk away to get the liquor. When they come back they say "know how you said to not use your register...I should become a cashier" (was really confused by that statement). I alerted my pic and we looked at the security camera footage and saw him using my register. We called up the store director and she said I'm not in any trouble and would talk to the cc to see why they did that.

tldr: courtesy clerk uses my register behing my back

Chaotic night at the checkstands

Chashier here, I work at a store in a bit of a busy summer tourist area. Are busiest days are Thursday and Friday nights when people are heading into town for the weekend. It stays busy those nights til 8 or 9 at night but we only have most checkers until 6 then after that it's just me and someone in SCO and a PIC or two. Tonight after it went down to one checker (me) at 6 we had a rush. Line down to the other end of the registers. Someone with a 1500 dollar instacart order freezes my register. The other cashiering PIC has to take them over to customer service to help them out leaving me the only checkers. As I'm checking I have customers coming up to me to complain about the lack of checkers. Then someone tries to steal a barbecue set outside so the second PIC who was checking to get the line down had to deal with that as the first PIC was dealing with the instacart order. What a night and it's only 8.
