Revisiting Islets
Played more of Islets and I owe Kyle an apology. I was pretty hard on the game early on, but the more I played the more it clicked with me. The movement and mechanics feel really smooth, the difficulty curve ramps naturally, and exploration became way more satisfying the deeper I got into it.
I think I judged it too quickly expecting something different instead of appreciating what it was actually trying to do. It has a really polished, relaxed style that stands out from a lot of other metroidvanias.
Now I’m genuinely looking forward to Well Dweller after finally “getting” Kyle’s game design philosophy. Curious if anyone else had a similar turnaround experience with Islets.
