Chinese-Canadian, never smoker, occasionally drink, no other substance use

Lower wisdom teeth extraction 3 months ago with 2 infections leading to abscesses in the area since then which resolved with antibiotics and debridement the second time. Oral surgeon thought the source of the infection was more likely the second molar rather than the extraction site itself. Dentist took a look and said the periodontal pocket was greater than 9mm and recommended extraction though they didn't test for pulp vitality.

Is there any keeping the tooth? Oral surgeon said root canal should be ok but dentist said the degree of bone loss is too great. Recent pano and pre-extraction CBCT attached
