Laila Majnu (2018)— my theory
I watched the movie yesterday (ik I'm very late but hey a masterpiece like this deserves every but of appreciation), and I kid you not at the end of the movie I felt like I have a hole in my heart.
I know many people have mixed opinions on this movie but I would say—
iss movie ko sab samajh nahi paayenge, aur jo samajh gaye woh kabhi bhul nahi paayenge.
Okay now here's my theory— halfway through the movie I kept feeling that Qais is much more than what's we see on surface, almost like he knows how his and Laila's story is gonna turn out (tragically), and that the only way to prevent this is to go pahadon ke uss taraf (and the real laila never goes w him there).
One scene that cemented this thought of mine was where Qais was sitting in his room with Laila (after that grand fight scene btwn laila and her husband), and the camera pans to the clock while Qais was telling her "duniya hai... zimmedari hoti hai hai, divorce hai, time hai"
that mention of 'time' made me think that Qais' story does not fit with time— maybe he has been through multiple lives with the same tragic ending and in every life his only saviour was laila. so maybe if he can go with Laila pahadon ke uss paar, then they'll finally put this 'time' loop to a stop.
Also the scene where they meet for the first time is where Qais is respawned everytime he dies...with only memories of her love, and maybe that's why Qais' love for Laila is much stronger and deeper than hers... because is transcends the dimensions of reality and time.
Anyways this was my lil take, I would be happy to know your opinions on this. :)
