Love is Blind: Argentina!! I want to discuss the differences in drama/romance as well as fashion.

I'm finally getting around to watching this and it's in large part because I've always really wanted to go to Argentina and I know some Spanish but it's rusty so I wanted to watch it in Spanish with Spanish subtitles on .75X speed to improve my Spanish and I just finally found some time to be able to do that.

Maybe I'm biased for the above reasons but I LOVE LIB: Argentina and I think it's so much better than the US versions. (I'm American and have mostly watched US versions before this although I've also watched the France one and some of the Habibi one). It seems to have so much more drama but also more, like, real feelings and actual love or romance. Is it because they haven't been inundated with reality TV/influencer culture from the US and the show/experiment is newer there?

The one thing that gets me is that the women's clothes look so cheap, like fast fashion teeny bopper dresses you would buy on clearance or on Shein as an American. Is this a cultural difference as well?

ETA - Also, why are so many women listed as "abogadas"? As an attorney in the US, this fascinates me since there have never been so many contestants on a US season that are lawyers! In fact, the only lawyers I know of from LIB US versions are Zack (of Bliss fame), Uche, and that female lawyer from the same season as Uche, whose name excapes me at the moment but I think it started with a J. I may be forgetting a couple but still... this is a LOT of lawyers for one season, right?

I know there were more lawyers in the France season but people said that the job of "lawyer" is different there and doesn't always require as much education or training. Maybe the same thing is true in Argentina? I have no clue and would love to talk to anyone who knows!

What is the appeal of "Sugar"?

My husband and I love watching AppleTV. To give you a flavor of our tastes (although for the most part I've liked almost every AppleTV show I've tried even if I wasn't originally a fan of that genre), our current favorite shows on there are Widow's Bay and Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed. We have also both really enjoyed Physical, Loot, the Morning Show, Pluribus, Your Friends and Neighbors, The Big Door Prize, Bad Sisters and The Studio.

Some shows that he has loved that I have enjoyed but not loved include Ted Lasso, Shrinking, Severance, Platonic, Mythic Quest, and Bad Monkey. I've sometimes thought he likes some shows on there more than I do but I don't mind them and then I get into them and actually really like them. And I've LOVED LOVED LOVED some of the ones I mentioned above just as much, if not more, than he does, so that usually makes it worthwhile for me to give any show on there a try with him.

For instance, "Physical" is probably one of my favorite shows of all time and Loot is up there, whereas he liked them but not as much as I did. I think I liked Bad Sisters a lot more than he did too. The only show we've watched on there that we've both been kind of "meh" about is Margo's Got Money Troubles.

We also had major issues with Imperfect Women but overall we still both enjoyed it enough to keep watching it and finish it out and I think it got better by the end (whereas I thought Margo got worse by the end!). I think the only show we started watching that we didn't want to continue with is Silo but even then, I keep thinking we should try it again.

Anyway, recently we started watching Sugar and I just can't seem to get into it at all. I find it confusing and slow and boring and I hate the black and white parts and the flashbacks and the movie scenes that are randomly inserted while Colin Ferrell is doing a voiceover narration. I feel like he is reading us his diary or telling us every little thought he has instead of taking action to advance the story.

My husband is kind of into it so I keep trying to watch it with him but instead I end up falling asleep or getting distracted in my head by anything else. We are on the middle of the second episode and it's taken us three nights to get here. Does it ever get better or pick up the pace? If you like it, why? Maybe I'm missing something! Or maybe it's just not for me. Thanks in advance!

Sunscreen turned my blonde extensions copper?!?!

I'm feeling sad because for the past year and a half I've been getting extensions and getting my hair, which is naturally a light brown color (or maybe like a dishwater/dirty blonde), dyed lighter because I like it very blonde. For one year, I had platinum hair but then in February when I got new extensions after having the first set (and platinum hair) for a year, I switched things up because I thought the platinum was sometimes TOO white/gray and I like when it's more of a golden/yellow blonde (although the color/tone of the hair varied each appointment when I had platinum... sometimes it was more of a purply/silver look I didn't really like) and I got highlights/lowlights (? I think a mix of both ?) that were like a mix of dirty blonde with some very obviously golden and yellow blonde parts mixed in all over.

When my hairdresser showed me the swatches of hair before ordering my extensions, I didn't like the ones that were mostly darker, and she said she could add highlights (or maybe it was lowlights, I don't really undertand the difference) in throughout, to make it look lighter and blonder over all. I said okay and that was what she did the first time she put my new extensions in, which was in February. So April was the second time I went to see her with these new extensions and it looked even better because she said she had a new color or toner or something. I loved it but midway through the 8-week time period before this latest appointment, my hair started turning red and looking copper in places.

Now, before I had the first set of extensions taken out, I had tried going copper/reddish blonde to see if I might like that for the new set of extensions, but I didn't like it nearly as much as the blonde. So I had specifically stayed away from copper when ordering the new extension but now my hair was turning copper randomly. I told her I wasn't sure why it was happening and I didn't like it! She said she thinks it's from wearing sunscreen and that a lot of women have come in saying that their hair turns orange or red in the summer with extensions. She told me to look on her social media for a list of approved sunscreen.

I live in the desert and am always outside with a good base tan year-round so I almost never wear sunscreen except on my face and I do that year-round although I guess I do reapply it a bit more in the summer when I swim and the water takes it off or when it's sunnier for more of the day. I never knew it was possible that just wearing sunscreen would turn my extensions copper? And I swear it didn't happen last year although maybe it's harder for platinum hair to do that?

She said it would be too hard to get all the copper out of my hair so she mixed it so that now it's like a light brown with some copper/red starting about midway. And I really don't like it because I wanted to be blonde, especially due to it being the summer and the fact that I'm about to go on vacation to the beach. Honestly it looks a lot like my normal hair color except even more brown/dark, and it's not all the way even because the extensions don't match the hair underneath as much as it normally does. So I started wondering why I was even paying money to get it dyed if this is how it's going to look.

I usually love my hair after I visit this hairdresser (my normal/only one for the past few years now) and I didn't want to offend her but I also just hate it. I was really trying not to cry and I asked her if it needs some highlights or low lights added if I want it to be more blonde. She said that's a good idea and that she will set my next appointment for a longer time because that takes longer (but I thought it was what I was always going to have done once I chose this color). She also set it for only 6 weeks out instead of my normal 7-8, so at least I only have to have this color I hate for that long.

I looked at her list of approved sunscreens and of course they were more expensive than I'm used to but I bought face and regular sunscreen for my trip that were from the approved list (not that it will matter much since my hair is already brown and copper). I was wondering if there's anything I can do on my own to make it blonder in the meantime? Especially because last time it got even darker in between appointments. Will sitting in the sun help? Because luckily I plan to be doing a lot of that anyway, lol. What about putting lemon juice in it or trying an at-home dye kit? (I really don't want to mess up my hair/extensions though).

Has anyone else ever had this happen? Is there anything I can do to avoid it in the future except keep buying the extension-approved sunscreen? Which I will definitely keep doing forever now that I know, lol. (Also this is a PSA for any of you who, like me, had no idea.) Thanks in advance for any help!
