Iso a room/private landlord help!
Hey! I'm 35/f starting a new job in the south loop in a couple weeks moving from Vegas. And I'm having the hardest time landing an apartment.
My ex ruined my credit (and my life) he took out several credit cards in my name, opened cell phones using my ID, all behind my back and I didn't find out about it until they all went in to collections.
I have 12+ years of amazing rental history, but I have one eviction from 7 years ago that's ruining my life!! Even though I have several years of references from private landlords proving that I pay rent. My credit score is at 620. I have proof of income and have offered to pay up to 6 months rent up front and I still can't seem to find anything!
All of it being that much harder since Im not in the city yet, and I'm starting to freak out. I haven't had this hard a time finding a place ever in my life and I'm getting scared.
All that being said, I'm working on paying these debts, it's a slow process. Especially since I'm in the transitional period and trying to live out my Chicago dreams lol.
I figured I'd reach out and see if anyone knows anyone who's renting a unit, or who has an extra room. I'm trying to stay at or under $1800 a month. I'm willing to pay first last security, a few months up front all of that. I have 2 dogs, and I have an esa letter from my therapist. (Yes it's real, I worked at Mandalay Bay during the 1 October shooting and it's done wonders for my healing) And honestly if it makes anyone feel better I'm still willing to pay extra deposits and pet rent because I understand why people want the money for animals, at this point I'm willing to do just about anything to secure a place to live before I start this job.
I'm 35, female, single, no kids, I love live music and music in general, I love to cook, I work in the service industry I landed a job managing a restaurant in the south loop, I have a car, I'm not stingy, I like to take my dogs on long walks, geocaching, reading and I watch a lot of stand up! I clean, I keep to myself mostly but I don't mind being social! I don't know anyone in the city so it'd be cool to meet people to hang out with and such.
