Trouble finding sponsorship for non-clinical roles

Hi everyone,

Re-posting because my first post was fileted by Reddit?

I'm hoping to get some advice from people who have successfully moved to Australia through employer sponsorship, particularly in healthcare management or operations roles.

My background is in behavioral health and healthcare operations in the United States. I currently work as a Director of Operations and have over 8 years of experience across multi-site healthcare operations, accreditation, compliance, quality improvement, EHR implementation, risk management, and organizational growth.

My qualifications

  • MBA (Healthcare Management)
  • PMP certification
  • Positive VETASSESS skills assessment for ANZSCO 134213 – Primary Health Organisation Manager
  • NAATI CCL (German)
  • IELTS 8.5 (CEFR C2)
  • Current EOI lodged for 491 (85 points - possibly 95 points later in July)

I'm open to 186, 482, or 494 sponsorship and willing to relocate anywhere in Australia.

The challenge I'm running into is that almost all healthcare sponsorship discussions seem focused on clinical roles (nurses, doctors, psychologists, physiotherapists, etc.). When I search for sponsorship opportunities, I rarely see anything for healthcare operations, service delivery, practice management, health services management, or director-level operational roles.

Has anyone been through this process?

  • How did you identify employers willing to sponsor non-clinical healthcare management positions?
  • Are there particular healthcare organizations, Primary Health Networks, community health providers, mental health organizations, or hospital groups known to sponsor management staff?
  • Is it realistic to target 186 sponsorships directly from overseas, or should I focus primarily on 482/494 pathways?
  • Are recruiters generally useful for healthcare management positions, or is direct outreach more effective?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has navigated employer sponsorship outside of the traditional clinical pathways - I'm starting to loose hope 😞

Thank you.
