Hi, looking for some advice here. Thought buying a baby gate would be a simple task but as with everything there are 10,000 different options.

I think I've whittled it down to the Babydan Guard Me. My question is is it ok to mount between the two stairposts so it sits on the first stair? There website recommends it sitting flush with the floor and being mounted to the front of the posts but to me it makes more sense that it would sit on the first stair.

The other alternative is a retractable one from Amazon mounted to the front of the two posts and sitting flush with the floor.
