
The importance of “groups” when it comes to advocacy/activism
The scandal of the last 24 hours has reminded me why some say the U.S.A. is so full of different groups/organizations/associations. When people come together and make an advocacy group for a specific cause, they can monitor one another and make sure the message is reasonable. Of course, I support the First Amendment, but there are still consequences to words we choose to speak.
In my experience, if you want to advocate for something, anything, there is already an organization/association doing that work, and it’s likely that the group is much more effective than starting your own new thing (as tempting as that may be).
