What is the driving factor for showing above sponsored content?
Preface this by saying I feel dumb asking. I guess I haven’t noticed this until, well, now. I searched for a local company and they appeared at the top of the page, no sponsored content above them or below them. It went from their website to their GBP then to “people also ask” and then other results. Second pic shows another local search and the sponsored content is above the company I searched for.
My assumption is it’s because the first company had a more optimized GBP (info, reviews, photos), however the second company does as well, but does not have a great website.
Is it simply GBP plus website SEO authority?
