I’d like to work on a robotic stem project with my daughter and i happen to have an extra roomba 705 vacuum laying around.

I’ve never worked with robotics I have a software and networking engineer background.

The application is not related to vacuuming, but control - in a local only, zero egress manner (just for fun)

Is it possible to connect usb devices to this machine, cut off the onboard wifi or repurpose to be lan first, and maintain any of the capabilities of the lidar and movement?

This is step 1, understanding what I can and cannot do before I start. Add a multi directional speaker that can estimate where sound comes from to provide direction for maybe a Marco / polo - or come to me - game?

I think this is more important to learn for her at this point than writing software.

Anybody know where I can acquire a shed - maybe 10x10/12 for around $350 to store some equipment that either offers reasonable installation with gravel pad and anchoring, or a separate handy man who can install it to code?

I’m off 9th st ne and ripple access boxes and fiber installed over past few months. But, I have had metronet commit to providing access to us like a year ago and then ripple fiber, and neither are available yet.

Anybody off 9th get updates on when this might be available - spectrum is … outdated here.
