Resync Ideas and thoughts about Modern Day Story
With the news that most (if not all), of modern day story is being removed. It makes it unlikely of what I was hoping they would have done.
The Animus offers so much potential for breathing new life into old stories. History remains contained (original game and story) but who experiences it can change. It literally could be that Abstergo made the AC movie and it was a smash hit for the company, allowing them to continue their funding for more nefarious dealings around the world before the Karrington Event 2.0 that would eventually wipe everyone out.
It could also be that The Reader and Layla determine that it was at this time something changed or could be maniplulated to get on the "right" branch to save the world.
Going back to replay some of the older games could be incorporated as reaearch. Even a slight change or added ending could dramatically influence new installments of the AC franchise and it wouldnt need to change the story of the original game, but have this new incentive underneath.
Since the original Black Flag never had a modern protagonist, this could be a very unique way to incorporate a reveal.
I would really like to see the franchise treat the resync in the way Final Fantasy 7 did Remake and Rebirth. Same story and events, but they added this timeline difference. Events that happened in the original game EXIST in Remake and Rebirth.
I think just getting rid of the modern-day entirely is the wrong move. I know the majority doesn't care about the modern story, but what I've seen with recent titles, and I actually like it a bit, is that it's buried so far underneath all the menus, UI, and battle pass BS that it feels almost like a lore Easter egg. I'll admit I haven't completely finished Shadows, but the hidden messages and videos are really exciting when I uncover a new one. Resync should have a field day with hidden lore for the modern story fan.
That's my rant, take it for what it is. I'm excited that Resync is a thing. I just hope it truly holds up to its name as a Resync, and not just a graphical/combat upgrade in the Bahamas.
