We have just adopted an adult male lynx point (4-5 years old) and he is already neutered when we got him. It has been one and a half months of him living with us but in the past 2 weeks he has been bitey, and only towards me.
He will be super excited to see us, he will rub against our legs and he will be super affectionate. However, there will be a point where he will suddenly come up to me and stare intensely, sniff and roll over my toes. If I ignore him (refuse eye contact) he will come right up and stare or roll over my toes and try to get onto my lap. And it will escalate to a bite even if I only pet his head for a sec. There is no tail swishing before that. The bite will not draw blood, but we are afraid that it might if we let him be.
To remedy it we have been trying to sit quietly with him during meal times, minimize pets that are beyond his head, refusing eye contact when he starts his staring thing, and even leave when he starts to get intense. But it still happens.
We are putting him in a big room right now, around 12 SQM big as he was a stray and we wanted to let him out to the house but he was starting to get bitey easily. We still let him out to roam the house for a bit at night before dinner, but when we are watching him.
We are first time cat owners (or servants haha) so advices will be greatly appreciated!
