Parents want me to choose UofA Engineering over UofC
I got accepted into both UofA and UofC engineering this year with a 92 average. I live in Calgary, so I was planning to go to UofC because it’s close to home, I already know the city, and most of my friends are going there too.
The problem is that my parents really want me to go to UofA. They both work at pretty big engineering firms in Calgary, and they keep telling me that UofA is more prestigious, has more resources, and will give me better opportunities than UofC.
I understand where they’re coming from, but I honestly don’t want to leave Calgary. I’d rather stay here, save money, have all of my friends and family, and study at UofC.
How can I convince my parents that UofC is still a good choice for engineering? Has anyone been in a similar situation?
