I need opinions
Okay, for clarity, she's black, and I'm orange. Both in our 30s and, for the sake of clarity both single. She's an old friend, an old friend who dating my brother on and off through highschool and, after my aunt and uncle tragically died in a car accidently, dated my cousin thanks to the magic of trauma bonds, only for her to vanish in the middle of the night years later. I guess the relationship was abusive.
Recently, she declared me one of her best friends. We do not have a relationship where we discuss sex. We don't even touch. I gave her a hug once when my brother and I broke up like a decade ago, and that was the last time. Not even high fives. As you can imagine, this conversation caught me off guard.
Ive spoken to a friend or two, and they, and I, see this as a move or as testing the waters. Though I want to believe she was just being a bit too honest with me. I'd love a second opinion, especially if this opinion is "you're overthinking this". Don't let me down reddit!
For clarity, and i cannot believe I have to say this, I absolutely do not want to touch my brother/cousin's ex. I'm not looking for permission. I'm hoping I'm misreading the situation because she's a good friend and, to be frank, pretty much the only one I got.
