Maxing 401K contributions

Is retirement really as simple as it seems? I’m early 30s, and am fortunate enough to be able to contribute the max amount to my 401k per year. If I run the math, depending on interest rates I would retire at 65 with roughly 6-7M, obviously there’ll be taxes paid on that, but I think I would be comfortable in retirement at 3M net.

Of course I’m trying to take advantage of other investments, but worst case maxing 401k is relatively safe, or am I over simplifying it?

Am I wrong to start spending more?

I’m hoping for some advice or feedback on where I stand financially and thoughts on spending more of my income.

For context:
32M
Income ranges between 150k-200k (sales so it fluctuates)
$40k in 401k
$110k in investments that are liquid (index funds, HYSA, could be pulled within a few days if needed for house down payment, etc)
$15k emergency fund
After all expenses I generally have a few thousand left over that I put into savings.
Long term will likely make slightly more given my career path, would like to have kids in about 3 years. (For what it’s worth) Wife makes more and is very financially comfortable

I would consider myself very frugal with money, whenever I get commission checks they instantly go to savings. I almost never spend large chunks of money on travel, cars, etc. I realized I constantly have anxiety/stress about saving the majority of my income. I understand my 401k is fairly low considering my other finances, and my main question is this: should I start allocating the max to my 401k, which would slow down my other investments, and stop stressing so much about small spending for more travel/lifestyle with my leftover money? If I started maxing my 401k I would retire around 65 with $2-$3M, which would be plenty. Im not thinking of being reckless, I’m just worried I’m not enjoying my youth as much as I should seeing friends traveling Europe, staying in nice hotels etc. I know I’ll never be irresponsible with money, but I do feel like I’m missing out by stressing so much.

Edit in response to comments: When I say putting money into savings it’s usually into my index funds (the $110k). I definitely can afford to max out my 401k, historically I’ve just put money into index funds rather than a 401k, which is why the balance is so much higher. Money is relatively new, I used to make 90-100k before moving into this space.
