"Married" name is on the documents but I go by maiden name

I have what feels like a slightly sketchy scenario and I'm hoping to get some advice. My husband and I are in the process of refinancing our house with Rocket Mortgage and as we were logging into our virtual appointment this morning my husband mentions that they prepped all of the documents listing my surname as HIS last name. I've never changed my name and have no plans to so my name will always be my maiden name.

It sounds like Rocket Mortgage made a clerical error early in the process which my husband flagged but they assured him(via phone of course so no paper trail) that because I have multiple aliases that are with my real last name it was fine.

I signed the documents because there was a built in cancellation window so I could do some digging to see if this is true. I'm extremely weirded out that Rocket Mortgage would not simply update my name on the documents when my husband flagged it with them and do not trust them to consider my protections over their ability to profit.

Should we cancel and make them redo the documents with my *actual* name or is it okay that I signed with a married name I don't have?

Edit: It's worth noting that an AKA document was included in the contract which seemed to link my maiden name to this 'married' name

Cardan being able to tell Jude apart from Taryn

I don't know why but I always laugh a little when Cardan chastises Jude in QoN for assuming that he wouldn't be able to tell her apart from Taryn -- when that literally was how he ended up giving away half of his army at the end of the previous book. I get that he was recovering from being poisoned so I don't blame him but I just think it's a really funny lack of self awareness and I wish Jude had thrown it in his face "Well that would have been a useful skill to have developed BEFORE giving Madoc half of Faerie's army, wouldn't it?" 😂

Is this a red flag?

Not sure if this is the best place for this question so please redirect me if not!

We have a fantastic relationship with our neighbors who have wanted to redo the fence we share since they moved in 2 years ago (we moved into our house about a year prior). We are in agreement that the fence should be replaced as it's definitely rotting and falling into disrepair after years of neglect.

One of the neighbors contacted a local fencing company with pretty good reviews to get an estimate. The price of the estimate is fine but we have some concerns with the rough plan this contractor made with our neighbor. He didn't provide a formal outline/proposal for the project and instead sort of left her with a rough sketch.

The main point of contention for us is the contractor has told our neighbor that he can add a gate for them to their backyard which is bigger than their current one. I won't go too into detail, but from what we can see his initial proposal on how to accomplish this is logistically impossible as it relied on us moving our shed in a certain direction it physically cannot go due to the shape of our home. In lieu of that, his plan would also seemingly require some of our property to become shared property or for us to lose space and/or lose some privacy to our bedroom -- and even then we're still not convinced he can logistically accomplish what he says he will.

When we were initially talking to our neighbor we raised some concerns but we said we'd love to connect with him to see if we could get a better understanding for what he has in mind. Maybe we are misunderstanding! However, he is refusing to meet with us until we are fully committed to the project. He says it's not a good ROI to come out multiple times for such a small project which I appreciate but am also a little weirded out by. This is a shared fence project and it feels really sketchy to me that he wouldn't have insisted on meeting with both owners on the initial visit if he could only come out for one consultation.

To be clear, we're willing to do a lot to work with these neighbors and some of the space that is technically ours we're willing to relinquish (through the proper procedure and channels of course) in the pursuit of getting them a better gate since it's actually not usable or accessible to us as is. We're also willing to pay for a consultation fee out of our pockets for this guy to come back and speak with us/actually take a look at our side of the property. The primary worry is whether this contractor is acting shady.

I'd love your thoughts on if this is abnormal behavior or par for the course.

US/UK first time passport struggles

I'm a US/UK dual citizen who was born on the US in 1994 and was eligible for British citizenship through my father. I've recently been working through the process of getting a passport for the first time and have been having what feels to be the hardest time accomplishing this.

The current step I've been struggling with is getting necessary documents to the UK. It was a real bear collecting everything because my parents are separated and have moved several times over the years but I finally was able to send to UK passport office the following documents:

  1. A color photocopy of my US passport

  2. A color photocopy of the US passport of the person who verified my identity

  3. Both of my birth certificates (US and UK)

  4. My dad's UK birth certificate (apparently the short form version), two of his former UK passports, and a hospital document from his birth which listed his parents (not a birth certificate -- just a weird slip of paper)

  5. Something that was labelled as my parent's marriage license but was actually some weird insert for their wedding program made to look like a marriage license (I admit that was iffy to me as well when I sent it but since each state manages their own marriage licenses it seemed possible one from New Jersey in the 90's might look slightly different than others I've seen)

The UK passport office returned to me asking for my dad's long form birth certificate and my parents marriage license which was fair because it seems like they weren't included but I was a little surprised because I assumed that all of the additional documents I sent would be sufficient to confirm my identify. For example, I would have assumed the overseas UK birth certificate would have required my dad to provide his long form birth certificate and marriage license in order for the UK to issue one to me (I'm sure they weren't just handing those out to anyone who requested?)

I went ahead and ordered official copies of both required documents and brought them for priority shipping to the USPS -- who promptly lost them not a day later. After two weeks of trying to figure out what happened I am presuming them to be lost.

I'm a little devastated and am trying to evaluate my options from here. My current plan is to just order new copies of the needed documents but I'm bummed because that will of course take extra time and money and I've already asked the office for an extension on my deadline.

Has anyone else had similar challenges or have any helpful guidance to share? I didn't expect this process to be easy peasy but I also wasn't anticipating as many hurdles as I've run into to make this happen.
