Has anyone here dealt with the SSVF rapid rehousing program ?
Hello, I am a homeless veteran that fell on hard times and I called the SSVF and I have a case manager now, he wants me to meet with him Monday to sign paperwork, which is fine and all, I looked and found an apartment that I wanted and can afford when I come off the program. I am curious to know they really help me get my own apartment or is this a scam? I feel hopeless. I just lost my partner because of my mental health. And now I’m homeless.
Can someone please give me some insight into how this process goes, how long it might take me to get into an apartment, I seen some apartments that says available now however I’m under the presumption that this is going to be held up by whatever on the case manager side. If you can please share your experiences and if you don’t feel comfortable, sharing them here. I wanna know more about what to expect from this program. And what your guys experience was like if you use this program
And when I go to meet this guy, I’m driving hours to meet him and there’s a possibility I might end up in a worse position if I have to stay at a shelter or if my vehicle breaks down. I have a source of income, but I also have a feeling of uncertainty of what if the case manager doesn’t help me
