Medical expert witness assistant contemplating switching to paralegal

Hello all.

I am currently an assistant to a medical expert witness (pediatric neurologist). I have been in this position the last 3 years and have had to learn on the run how an expert witness operates in the court system. I basically joined him 2 years after he began expert witness work. This year we are set to hit record revenue since I’ve join. We are a small practice, taking about 16-18 new cases a year. I will be honest, in regards of support, I probably only bill 2-3 hours a week. I help with other responsibilities around the office. I was wondering if it would be an easy transition to 1. Attend and pass paralegal school (associates) and 2. Enter the industry easily (and possibly paid more) based on the exposure as an assistant to an expert witness and because of networking done while assisting law firms with these cases. (Complex cases with millions are stake). We take civil lawsuit cases for both plaintiffs and defendants . ( no criminal cases).

Thoughts? Or would my newly acquired skills be served in other areas of legal support?

Any career male paralegals?

Any male paralegals out there who plan on staying as a paralegal and not attending law school?

Just curious on your experiences. And how much of a unicorn you are in the industry.
