Gigabyte 9070xt on AM4 build
So, I currently own a Gigabyte 2060 Super OC and wanted to upgrade into a GPU that’s relatively future proof for a while. I decided the best option would be a Gigabyte RX 9070xt Gaming OC 16gb since I could carry it into an AM5 system without it bottlenecking AM5 CPU.
Current setup:
5700x3d CPU
Noctua NH-D15 CPU Cooler
Corsair Vengeance 32gb (2x16) RAM
ASROCK B450m/ac m-ATX MOTHERBOARD
1tb Samsung Evo Plus NVME
500gb Sata
Gigabyte 2060 Super OC 8gb GPU
Liam Li Lancool 216 CASE
Corsair 850w PSU
When I attempted to install the new Gigabyte 9070xt, I realized the GPU’s plastic shroud interferes with my SATA connectors, preventing installation.
Admittedly, this motherboard is the last remaining part from a PC I got in 2019 and has hindered me for a while now (Everything else has been upgraded). However, would it be more realistic to change the motherboard (and if so, which?) or should I avoid that hassle of essentially rebuilding my PC with potential issues and return this 9070xt for a GPU of equivalent power with better clearance (and if so, which?)
Getting a Lian Li vertical GPU mount was also considered, but that’s another potential fail point in the pc and will likely have interference considering the NH-D15 size and where this 9070xt has its 8 pin connections.
