As the title says my girlfriends birthday is coming up and i know she’s been wanting a digicam but with so many options i am unsure of what to get. Would really appreciate some recommendations, dont mind spending some money as long as it’s not a craaazy amount.

Type of Camera: again don’t know mutch but probably like a typical point and shoot

Intended use: Photography

End use: from what she said she just wants like ‘cute pics’

What features would be nice to have:

Portability: pocketable

Cameras you are considering: I’ve heard a bit about cool pix and powershot not too sure tho

Second-year CS & Maths student at Bath, about to head into third year. Currently sitting on a 78 average and I've done the full stats/probability sequence (Stats 1A–2B, probability modelling, probability theory, etc.).

I'm starting to think about masters applications with the goal of getting into quant finance, and wanted a sanity check on where to aim and what my realistic chances are. Right now my aspirational target list is Imperial MSc Mathematics & Finance, Oxford MCF, and Cambridge Part III.

No formal work experience yet, but over the summer I've been doing a research project supervised by a financial mathematics professor, working on optimal strategy in a simulated, simplified FX market.

A couple questions:

• Are these aspirations realistic given my profile, or am I aiming too high?
• Any strong "target/backup" programs I should add to the list?
