Mon Tigre cattery
Honestly, where do I even begin.
I recently contacted Mon Tigre Bengals and had a really disappointing experience with the owner, Lisa. The moment I started asking questions about health testing, guarantees, and written agreements, her attitude completely changed. Instead of answering clearly, she became defensive and basically implied I wasn’t “ready” for a pet because I was asking too many questions.
She said things like “we’re hobby breeders, we do this for love” and “I’ll find a like-minded animal person instead.” But if you’re registered as a breeder, health screening and transparency should absolutely matter; especially with Bengals, which can be predisposed to hereditary conditions like HCM.
What really concerned me was that she openly stated she does not do yearly HCM echocardiogram testing on her adult breeding cats. When I asked further questions about health screening of the parents, I never got clear answers and felt like my concerns were being brushed off instead of addressed professionally.
There also didn’t seem to be much willingness to provide proper written agreements or health guarantees, which raised even more red flags for me.
I fully understand that owning a kitten comes with unexpected vet bills and accidents; pets swallow things, get injured, etc. That’s not what I’m talking about. My concern was specifically around inherited health conditions and whether the breeder was taking responsibility for screening and prevention.
Maybe others have had different experiences, but personally, if you’re looking for a breeder who is transparent, thorough, and comfortable answering health-related questions, I wouldn’t recommend Mon Tigre based on my experience. You’ll get the turd attitude from Lisa. So unprofessional. She said I wasn’t “picking up what she was putting down”. Unbelievable. Really needed to vent about this one.
