AITA- Just lost my best friend over kittens and chickens.
I just want to say I probably am the a hole.
I’ll summarize two scenarios quickly. I am pregnant and hormonal so…I know I’m over reacting.
My best friend - was to watch my chicks while I was on a cruise- I paid her 110 dollars for 2 check ins. My brother was watching the dogs but her and I have raised chicks together for 3 years , and I trusted her. I gave her access to the garage , told her my brother would be asleep on the couch when he was home- and just to go in the garage and fill their large waterers with the hose and food bowls. There weren’t many and I left them fully loaded before I left. I get home to dead chicks. I assumed they had been diseased, until she told me she saw his SUV and felt uncomfortable- and never told me so I could tell him when I did pay for the service package .
I was going through home issues - I never told her they died just said keep the money - and cried.
More than a month ago 2 of her cats had 8 kittens. She has too many, like 20 at a time and wants the kittens usually - but not the cats she has them put down - she this time said I want two kittens not the cats. I told her let’s find owners for the other kittens now and let’s give them updates - and see if they’ll wait, this wonderful person wanted two and has waited 5.5 weeks. My friend who’s a stay at home mom of a 15 y.o and 17 y.o decided it was too much work- and that either this couple had to take the moms and all kittens or she would have to take them to the shelter where they already said they would be put down . I asked her - why not just let them have the 2 early since they are litter trained and this couple is willing to bottle feed. She kept insisting on killing them all. Finally this wonderful couple with 4 kids who’ve waited 5 weeks (saved as kittens) said they’ll take them all but I cannot forgive that she would put them down before trying to find them homes even if it meant being bottle fed. I am ending the friendship and went off on her pregnant style even after they decided
to take them all. It will not let me post the text but I told her 3 times she was a control freak who the second she decided to take these cats to the shelter lost ALL RIGHTS to what is best for the kittens , and a cat killer , and then I blocked her . Her only response was I’m not responding to this I know what’s best for them. I also informed her she killed the chicks and the only reason I always overpaid her was because I felt sorry for her kids since she wouldn’t get a job while her family was poor poor and actively suffering . I went too far. And I’m sad about the friendship being over . I just needed to vent.
