Been Growing My Hair for 15 Years, Should I Cut It?
I’ve been growing my hair for about 15 years. When I was younger, my parents never wanted me to cut it, and I used to hate having long hair because all my friends were getting cute haircuts while I couldn’t. Over time, though, I grew to love it.
I haven’t gone the entire 15 years without cutting it. I’ve had trims and layers over the years, and about 2 years ago I cut off a significant amount because old layers had left my ends uneven and thin. Since then, I’ve been growing it out evenly.

My goal has always been long, shiny, thick hair, but I’m starting to accept that my hair is naturally fine and thin, so it may never look the way I imagined. Even after 2 years of growing it out evenly, it’s still thinner than I’d hoped, which has me considering a shorter cut.
I’ve always wanted to try shoulder-length hair (or slightly longer), but I’m worried I’ll regret cutting off so much length after spending years growing it. At the same time, I’m wondering if shorter hair would make it look fuller and more voluminous, or if it would just end up looking flat and short.
What do you guys think? Does my long hair look good, or would a shorter cut suit me better? For those with fine, thin hair, did going shorter make your hair look fuller?
