Is she finished?

I bought this Oakleaf in March (7b, SC PA, USA). I planted her in a protected, north facing area.
We had some really high temps, she was leafing out beautifully.
Then we had two frosts and a hard freeze, she was covered.
Started to lose leaves.
Last week we had most a freeze, but some cold night time temps, and I’m afraid she’s finished!
I would be so thankful for any suggestions.

Purchased from Tree Center

I wanted to start growing JM’s in containers on my patio, we spend a lot of time out there and bonus, I could see them in their fall glory from my sofa.

Anyway, I ordered a Fireglow from The Tree Center. I have ordered other trees from Wilson Bros and Fast Growing Trees in the recent past.

The Fireglow came mangled, but instead of sending a replacement , they sent a gift card, but only had the larger size and I didn’t want to add money.

I now have a Fireglow to nurse back to health, if I can, a new fern leaf full moon, and an Oregon sunset.

I have no idea what I am doing, please send help!

Only half joking, I don’t know how I get this Fireglow to survive.

I would really appreciate any feedback. I am starting to think I am cursed with evergreen trees since moving to a new location…

I planted a tree I’ve coveted a while, a Wells Hinoki Cypress. I plan to get to the nursery this week too to see what they say.

I planted it about 6 weeks ago, good soil, mulch. 7a. North facing, it receives sun from about noon to 7 . Of note, we had ridiculously hot weather around the time I planted it, then two frosts, one more of a hard freeze.

It was looking great until today (it did NOT look like this yesterday).

Is it possible it’s waterlogged and I need to move it or perhaps could I raise it up? I don’t think it’s a pests , but the few bits that were brown feel off easily with a light tug.

The reason I worry about water is the down spout, I have worked to divert any water and it doesn’t have much to begin with.

I am waiting on a shipped Fireglow, #2 gal. I’ve read a lot about the size of the container and good drainage, but does anyone recommend gravel in their containers prior to adding soil/planting?
