Clueless now... Bridge too high, saddle, or truss rod problem?
Hey all, Last week my grandma gave me a guitar she had found at a flea market just laying around (picture 5 is after i had just gotten it) It is an Vantage VS40CE, a semi acoustic model.
So today, i've been busy trying to get it playable. I have once before set up an acoustic, but i think it wasnt the best job i couldve done.
But since im on a budget, i still want to try to repair this guitar myself. The action was very high (6mm on 12fr or something), so i followed up some advice and shaved the saddle by a lot, since it was very high. Also, when i had the tension of the strings i adjusted the truss rod clockwise with the neck facing away from me 2 times. It seems to have gotten somewhat better at around 3.6mm on the Low E string.
Does the neck still look warped? Im not the best of forming an opinion since usually i play on squier/fender strat models electric, and do not often set up acoustics. On picture 9 the bridge looks very high and huge to me, but i cant imagine it being 'too' high right? Because it came out of a factory like this sometime? Also, the neck has a kind of crack on the right side of the guitar where it is glued onto the guitar bodytop layer. Should i fill that up with some titebond? All help is appreciated. I can use a good eye/someone with a lot more experience to form an opinion.
