Question- how are you guys getting these phones to work?

New to dumbphones, last I had one was when I was in middle school. I would really like a dumb slider qwerty phone like I used to have, but all the phones on Ebay are 2g compatible. How does that work? As far as I've learned, 2g is gone. But I see people post this era of phones on this subreddit, so how are you guys able to use them?
