First of all, I must warn you that I'm yet to finish volumes 22 and 23 (just can't find time to do it), so I'd appreciate not mentioning anything that goes past the first appearance of Twilight in the flesh (Its just that I'm still salty about getting spoiled Feldway's fate cause somebody didn't mark it as spoiler back when v23 just came out).
Now to the topic I wanted to talk about. I noticed that among all the people in this troublesome clown troupe Kagali is the only one that has elf ears, despite the fact that all of them should be elfs. I do need to point out that Clayman does have elf ears in anime, but if we look at the arts of him in LN and manga his ears are human looking (although in his description it does say that he has pointy ears).
So Kagali's homunculus body looks like elf cause it was made in Sarion, and after becoming a phantom she kept her looks, because that's how she'd looked back when she was a princess. So nothing strange here.
But here is where it gets weird. Clayman, Footman and Tear were created from corpses of all the people that Milim had killed during her rage and it was a way for Kagali to keep people that she cherished with her. So shouldn't all of them look like elfs, since they were created from elven bodies?
And then there is Laplace. So he is a walking corpse as well, but this time he was not created by mixing a ton of bodies with Birthday, but just from his own body. But with the fact that before becoming Laplace he was Sarion Grimwald, husband of Sylvia and El-tan's father he just can't be anybody but elf. I'll never believe that there was a human somewhere in Emperor of Sarion Family tree. So after Kagali had saved him he would still look the same (as if losing his memories would have any effect on his looks, he is not a demon, who's appearance is based on what said demon prefers).
So all of them are elfs but only Kagali looks like one. One of the theories that I came up with is that they just changed how their ears look just like Eren did, so that they would not attract attention (the clothes will do it tho). Or may be it was for the same reason they decided to all wear masks - to make Kagali feel better about how she looked cause of all the shit that Jahil did to her. Or the real reason - the design of the characters was settled on before their backstory was (Since I did not read WN I would have no idea how much Fuze-sensei changed their story in LN).
Anyway thanks for reading my rant, it will be interesting to read what other people think.
