Curious: what are people's favorite underrated animatics?
It's been a bit now since the musical released fully and there has been a lot of time for under-appreciated animators to make their renditions of the songs. We know the big names, Gigi, Neal Illustrator, Mircsy, Ximena Natzel, Anniflamma, Duvetbox, WolfyTheWitch, etc., but what are some renditions of songs by creators that aren't quite as well known that you think absolutely slap? Or what are some animatics by even those big names that people overlook?
I've watched a lot of Epic reaction videos so I know what animatics generally make it into those compilations, although sometimes I am pleasantly surprised when I see an animatic in a compilation that I have never seen before that quickly becomes my new favorite. Case in point, "Open Arms" by Formerly Human (still love Mircsy's version for the connection to "Warrior of the Mind" but as an individual song I think Formerly Human nailed it).
I'm always on the lookout for animatics that didn't receive the attention they deserved because they came out too long after the big artists took their stabs at it, so this is a way that people in the community can share their underrated favorites.
For me, I definitely think "Wouldn't You Like" by Orange is incredibly underrated. I also love their version of "Dangerous" but I especially love how they do "Wouldn't You Like". They aren't the most unknown artist for the franchise, they did do an animatic for "Hold Them Down" that is pretty popular in compilations, but I almost never see people react to these other ones I mentioned and I think their style and the references they put are just perfect for the tone of the songs.
