I started listening to Mac Miller because of a basketball edit
This memory just suddenly came back to me, so I decided to try to write it out. A little over a year ago, I was just randomly scrolling insta reels, which at the time was filled with a lot of basketball content for me because I was getting into the NBA at this point, and the playoffs were getting close. I wasn't no big fan yet, but I was watching some highlight videos on youtube and following a few teams, so of course the instagram algorithm picked up on it.
One time, I got a video which started out as some sort of fortnite video of someone communicating with his team only through piano, which was pretty funny tbh. Now at a certain point in this video, one of the teammates of the guy playing, a girl, asks this guy to play something for her, and he starts to play congratulations, and at this point, the video cuts to this one highlight of Paul George taking a halfcourt shot, yknow, the one where everything around him just slows down and he tells everyone to stop with this hand sign. The audio fades from the piano to the actual song, and the video then proceeds to show even more highlights, and the video just moved me, the song, the highlights, it all worked together so well.
Now, as someone who was just getting into basketball, I did not even know who Paul George was, and I had never listened to any Mac Miller song. But this video, this one reel, made me a fan of both, which is insane to think about, but it's funny how life can be influenced by such a small moment.
Now, I have listened to so many mac miller albums and I even have swimming on an LP, all because of this one Paul George edit.
Ps. went to search through my saved reels and was able to find it, here's the link: https://www.instagram.com/p/DLGw-TCtTZV/
