Headed out through TN and back into the recesses of Madison County NV. In the Shelton Laurel Backcountry, we hiked the 1.6 miles up to Hickey Fork Falls. Trail was in decent shape, albeit buggy. Easy to follow, had to crawl down to the falls.
Water levels were low enough so we picnicked directly next to the falls.
Had a nice, short 1.5 mile hike after parking at the Sam's Gap trailhead. Was our first time on the AT, and encountered a handful of through hikers. Chilled for a while at the first bald, picnic and hike back down. Trail was well marked, an moderate comparative to other AT sections.
Took our '22 out to explore the Croatan National Forest.
Explored the interior forest roads and towing our trailer, eventually settling on a nice lakeside campsite we had scouted out.
The ol' girl continues to prove capable, we'll be headed west in the upcoming months. Stay tuned
